A commitment to healing Mother Earth through ceremony
For A Tree was launched in 2012 to celebrate not only trees, but also our deep interdependence with Mother Earth. It is part of a movement recognizing that personal, intimate and reciprocal relationships with the natural world are essential to heal the planet, and humanity.
By drawing on the power of intention and ceremony to create change, For A Tree hopes to elevate the human experience and offer everyone a simple way to express gratitude to life-giving trees.
For A Tree’s founders, Rani Findlay and Woody Winfree, met as Life-Cycle Celebrant colleagues – an international organization which trains professional leaders in ceremonial rites. From within this community and out of their growing friendship, For A Tree became their passionate expression of service to trees and the planet.

Drawing on the wisdom of indigenous ancestors, Rani and Woody undertook teachings from a ceremonial leader of Andean descent and Lakota brotherhood. The profound foundation of these deep teachings showed that a heartfelt, spirit-filled approach would best serve Mother Earth.
This led to the core belief of For A Tree: in order to receive, one must give.
Now in its 5th year, For A Tree continues to advance individual and community ceremonies offering blessings of gratitude for trees, understanding that we have a responsibility as caretakers of the earth. Our care begins with the recognition of how much is given to us by these life-sustaining trees on planet Earth. It culminates with saying, “Thank You.”
